We have discovered that it is not easy to keep moving. The hardest days we have are moving
days and they come along every three to four days (sometimes one or two days). Moving days are stressful and tiring. First we have to pack everything we have back into our backpacks. It is always a struggle to get everything in and organized. And of course Michael always has to complain that we have too much stuff!
Then once we are packed and loaded we have to get to the bus station. That involves different modes of transportation including walking, bus, taxi or subway. Taxi is the easy way out and the most expensive so we have only taken a taxi when we arrived in the evening or we didn’t know where we were going. Usually we can figure out which city bus to take to our accommodation but sometimes we end up walking several blocks. When we arrived in Mexico City (think big and crowded) we caught a city bus outside the bus station and the driver was very helpful in telling us where to get off. What we didn’t know was we had to walk eleven blocks carrying our backpacks. When we are leaving a city we know how to get back to the bus station so that is a little easier. In Mexico City we took the subway, that was an adventure in itself.
It is always a relief once we get to the bus station because they are usually comfortable and air conditioned. Once we get on the bus we can finally relax. Buses in Mexico are much more luxurious than buses in the United States. They are super clean with nice restrooms, wide seats that recline, foot rests and a movie (in Spanish) or music. Michael always looks forward to getting on the
bus because we are headed somewhere new but about four hours into the ride he starts to get fidgety and can’t wait to get off. Our longest ride so far was eleven hours. That is a long time! We have been trying to plan so that we ride four to six hours.

But the name of the game is to keep moving so tomorrow we will pack up and be on the move again and loving it!

We are really missing you both! But all your pictures are beautiful and it looks like you are having a great time although sometimes tiring. I hope you are taking lots and lots of pictures. We can scrap book when you get home. My travels have only taken me to the hospital a time or two, but they can’t hold me for very long. I keep coming home on the same day I go in. So far nothing serious. I played in a tennis tournament today, a chance draw at Roeding Park. I had a great time!!! The big news today is that Will Bartel is engaged. Look at all the drama here you are missing out on! I guess you have seen the news of a huge hurricane in Mexico. So glad you got out of there in time. Keep having the time of your lives and I will keep you both in my prayers. Love, Judi & Rick
Hi Judi,
It is so nice to hear from you. We are in Panama City. It is a very nice city. We fly to Medellin, Columbia on Friday. We have not been as good of picture takers as I had hoped but we get a few decent shots of most places we go.
We miss all of you very much. We have both managed to catch colds this last week so I was up coughing half the night. I am so glad to hear that you are feeling well enough to play in a tennis tournament.
Take care of yourselves.
Love, Tina
